Heart of a Royal - Hannah Currie

Heart of a Royal by Hannah Currie

Set Up: In this story our main character is Mackenna. When Prince Thoraben and Princess Alina's mother dies after giving birth to Alina, Mckenna's mom who works at the castle steps into the motherly role bringing along her newborn daugher. Mackenna was able to grow up being treated as a princess because she was Princess Alina's companion. However, it was always known that when Princess Alina married, Mackenna would return to life as a commoner. So we follow Mackenna as she navigates Princess Alina's engagement, and what that means for her future.

My Thoughts: I absolutely loved this book! I didn't want to put it down and really enjoyed the faith content. I love how she approached the interweaving of faith, because it was done in such a unique way. From the first scene in the hospital room with the little girl I fell in love with both Mackenna and Prince Thoraben. It's so hard to describe all the things I liked without spoilers, but I will try. I adored almost every character in this book, because they all had such quirky and fun personalities, while also being so relatable. I felt that the pacing was perfect, and the story had a few twists which I didn't see coming and some that I did but adored them anyways. I am so excited to continue the series and see what happens next, because while Mackenna's story wrapped up, there is a greater story at play, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds. This is a book I will definitely be adding to my physical shelf so I can dive into it again and share it with my daughter. This is a romance yes, but it is also so much more. There is a depth that I have been needing lately and am so thankful when authors add depth to the romance. If you enjoy a sweet romance with faith and depth, this is for you.
